One of the biggest things that sets each form of media apart from one another besides the content is the overall look and design of the media itself.
Whether it is a video game, TV show, or something as simple as a logo, each piece serves a purpose.
TV Show Assets
NewsMaker Sunday
NewsMaker Sunday is a weekly Sunday Show that Airs on WFRV-TV Local 5 News. What started years ago as a show centered around covering local and state politics evolved over time to a show that not only addresses that same topic, but now highlights organizes and different groups in communities that are making a positive difference and impact in peoples lives.
In 2023 the Shows design and logo were becoming outdated. The show had its own logo, however, it was using graphics from the standard company graphics package, and lacked a unique look of it’s own. As the show began to evolve and hit a point where it was doing more, including having it’s own specials, it was time for a redesign.
SEE THE OLD LOGO
I created this logo with the intent of capturing the idea of our Primary Viewing area is within the gold plate, we still focus on the state as a whole with various topics that we cover.
This logo was created using Cinema 4D, where individual assets were rendered out, and assembled in Adobe After Effects where they could be edited and adjusted to fit the shows graphical assets

LOCAL 5’S SPORTS XTRA
Local 5’s Sports Xtra has been a staple at WFRV TV for years. It is a weekly sports show that airs Sunday Evenings after the 10:00PM Newscasts, and follows a variety of sports of all levels through out the viewing area.
In 2022 the show’s logo, assets, and overall design were becoming outdated and falling behind compared to our other show designs and graphics. Together with my supervisor from Creative Service, Joshua Maloney, we took turns exchanging ideas and coming up with new designs for the show, until we ultimately settled on the design.

Features and aspects of this logo have made it’s way into subsequent designs for other sports shows, mainly the “X.” Now, whenever there is specialized coverage like this, or for a special like GREEN AND GOLD GAMEDAY XTRA (See Sports Content), the “X” has become the primary branding for that form of coverage.
This Logo was conceptualized in Adobe Illustrator, and then brought into Cinema 4D where it was built and Rendered.
